Credits & Licenses

The texts and datasets Morphologos is built on, and the people who made them.

Morphologos stands on the work of scholars and volunteers who made the biblical texts and their linguistic data freely available. This page states what we use, where it comes from, and under which license — as those licenses require, and with our gratitude.

Original-language texts & morphology

STEPBible Amalgamated Hebrew OT (TAHOT) & Greek NT (TAGNT)

The Hebrew Old Testament and Greek New Testament texts, with their morphological parsing, lemmas, Strong's numbers, transliterations, and glosses, are from the Translators Amalgamated Hebrew OT and Translators Amalgamated Greek NT datasets created by STEPBible.org / Tyndale House, Cambridge.

Source: github.com/STEPBible/STEPBible-Data · License: CC BY 4.0.

Changes: we reformatted the data into our own database structures and parsed the morphology codes into human-readable form. Any errors introduced in that process are ours, not Tyndale House's.

MACULA syntax, morphology & source texts

MACULA Greek Linguistic Datasets & SBLGNT

Greek New Testament text, morphology, and constituency syntax come from the MACULA Greek Linguistic Datasets, using its SBL Greek New Testament node trees. The SBLGNT source text and the MACULA dataset are licensed under CC BY 4.0. Berean interlinear glosses incorporated by the dataset are identified by the source as public domain. Cherith Greek glosses, Copyright © 2023 Cherith Analytics, are licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Changes: we generate app-internal token and syntax-node IDs while retaining MACULA IDs and the source revision; preserve the nested constituency tree; and derive word-level, head-to-dependent relationships from each node's Head and Cat attributes.

MACULA Hebrew Linguistic Datasets & biblical Hebrew text

Hebrew Bible text, morphology, and syntax come from the MACULA Hebrew Linguistic Datasets. The pinned dataset combines biblical Hebrew text from the Westminster Leningrad Codex lineage, Westminster Hebrew Syntax without Morphology, and OpenScriptures Hebrew Bible morphology.

Required attribution: “MACULA Hebrew Linguistic Datasets, available at https://github.com/Clear-Bible/macula-hebrew/”. The pinned source notice states that its biblical Hebrew text may be viewed or copied without restriction.

Changes: OpenScriptures morphemes become individual graph tokens; we generate internal IDs while retaining source IDs and the pinned revision; map Masoretic references to the app's canonical versification while retaining the original reference; preserve the complete constituency tree; and derive word-level, head-to-dependent relationships. Permission-only semantic-dictionary enrichment is not imported.

Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible morphology

Hebrew morpheme segmentation and morphology originate with the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible.

Cross-references

OpenBible.info cross references

The verse-to-verse cross-reference connections (about 344,000 of them), including their community-vote rankings, are from OpenBible.info by Stephen Smith.

Changes: we mapped the references onto our own book/chapter/verse identifiers and bundle them in the app for offline use.

Semantic search uses the LaBSE sentence-embedding model (Apache 2.0). The app and its linguistic knowledge graph are built with additional open-source and public-domain software and source material. Each source retains its own license; inclusion here does not replace those terms. AI answers in the Ask tab are generated at your request and are not part of any of the source texts above.
